Red Sees Red

Under Red's new regime, the kids feel as if they're in prison. Kitty thinks Red's having a little too much fun playing warden, and she's determined to get her happy home back.

Eric and Hyde are feeling Red's wrath; he's imposed a curfew and taken away the keys to the Vista Cruiser. Laurie's suffering too since she's learned that the curfew applies to her as well. Kitty's upset that they no longer have a happy house; she agrees that the kids should be punished but feels that Red should be a little less strict and a little more loving. Under this new regime the kids are about to expire from boredom. Kitty suggests that they do crafts and not drugs. Fez builds a model airplane in spite of Red's confiscating the glue, but the other kids sneak out of the house. Fez tells Kitty a little story about oppression and she gets the message. They're being too strict. Later, Kitty is watching "The Brady Bunch Variety Hour," and imagines that she and her family are doing the Forman Bunch Variety Hour, but the kids tell her that since living in the house has become unbearable, they're running away to join the Partridge Family. Shirley Jones appears and tells Kitty it's all about choices. Clearly Kitty has chosen to be a bad mother. Shirley, Hyde and Eric exit and Kitty is left alone. Suddenly Charo appears saying coochie, coochie, and Kitty tells her to can it. Later Red catches Eric as he tries to sneak back in the house. Red tells Eric that all his friends are now banned from the house; he assures Kitty that this is for Eric's own good. Red then has his own fantasy in which an Eric, who received no discipline, shows up for breakfast dressed as Gene Simmons in full Kiss regalia. Donna sneaks through the window into Eric's bedroom only moments before Red arrives to nail the window shut. Donna, who's hiding behind the door, sneaks out unseen and runs across the hall. She warns Laurie and Kelso that Red's doing a bed check as she drags Kelso under the bed with her. Moments later, in the basement, Jackie professes her love to Hyde and assures him that he's only claiming to hate her to protect himself. Hyde couldn't be more disgusted. Later that evening Red catches the kids trying to sneak out and once again he starts to crack the whip. Kitty says she's calling a halt to all the nonsense. Her home isn't a prison, and she's sick of everyone being unhappy. She's decided to stay home and take her house back. Fade out as Kitty, Charo and "Gene Simmons" sing "Sunrise, Sunset."
