Shocking secrets are revealed when the kids find their permanent records during a Halloween visit to their old elementary school. Red and Kitty remember Halloween, 1957, the night Kitty finds out she's pregnant.
It's Halloween, and the kids are thinking about what they want to do. Kelso suggests seeing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and they also talk about going to Old Main, their elementary school that was burned by arsonists and is now abandoned and very scary. Fez can't get over the fact that it's possible to ring doorbells, say "Trick or treat" and get candy. Red tells Kitty he hates Halloween, but Kitty reminds him of Halloween, 1957; in flashback, Red's having a great time horsing around with his brother Frank that night, and Kitty finds out she's pregnant. The kids are at Old Main, and things are really creepy. A window slams shut causing a loud bang; and Kelso pushes Jackie aside as he tries to get out; Jackie's furious, and she and Donna leave the room. Jackie and Donna find their permanent records that were left behind when the school burned down. As the kids go through the records, a number of things are revealed that are embarrassing or painful. There's a bad moment when Hyde reads that he willfully destroyed another student's shoebox diorama and Eric confesses that he's the one who actually did it. Hyde says that was when everyone pegged him as a bad kid; Eric ruined his life. Back at the Formans, the 1957 flashback continues as Kitty tells Red she's pregnant. He says, "Oh no!" and immediately knows he's blown it. At Old Main the tension is thick . Kelso tries to distract them by reading from his own file and accidentally reveals that he had to repeat first grade. Kelso says it's been hard having to pretend that he's a year younger than he really is; the other guys are upset that he's eighteen and could have been buying them beer. Jackie jumps to Kelso's defense and says that at least he's not a backstabber like Eric. Donna jumps into the fight, but Jackie shuts her up by revealing that Donna kissed Hyde last year. Donna says that actually Hyde kissed her, and Jackie is a dead girl. Donna then announces that Jackie told her that Fez kisses better than Kelso. By this point everyone is extremely upset, and things are starting to get physical. Fez tells them all to stop; clearly the permanent records are tearing them apart. Jackie says they have to destroy them. The 1957 flashback continues as Grandma, who's visiting Red and Kitty, tells Red that maybe he should escape to Canada, but Red rises to the occasion, telling his irresponsible brother to take off and assuring Kitty that he can't wait to be a father. And the kids bury the permanent records in the woods and agree to pretend that this night never happened.
