When the friends decide to go to a disco in Kenosha, Hyde, who can't dance, gets a few lessons from Kitty. Hyde surprises Donna by asking her to dance, and Fez and Jackie surprise everyone when they take over the dance floor with their 'Saturday Night Fever' moves.
When Jackie and Kelso suggest that they all go to a disco in Kenosha, only Fez and Donna think it's a good idea. Eric's worried about getting gas money from his parents, and Hyde just thinks it's a stupid idea. Red says that obviously Hyde can't dance a step; he tells Hyde that dancing is a skill he's going to need, because all women love to dance. Red enlists Kitty to give Hyde dancing lessons, but Hyde insists they keep it a secret. Bob sees Kitty and Hyde in what he thinks is an embrace and immediately assumes that the two are having an affair. It appears that the guys have just been smoking pot; they say a lot of stupid things that to them, seem very profound. Hyde suggests that next time they should record their conversation so they don't lose any brilliant ideas. A short time later as Eric speaks to Red about doing some chores to earn gas money, the wallpaper in the kitchen appears to him to be peeling off the wall. Midge tries to talk to Kitty about the "affair" she seems to be having, but Kitty doesn't have a clue. At the disco, Kelso immediately makes a fool of himself on the dance floor. Fez and Jackie go out on the floor and do an impressive dance number. Hyde, who learned a lot from Kitty, surprises everyone by asking Donna to dance. During their dance, Hyde tells Donna that he'd really like to kiss her; Donna thinks he's joking, but Hyde assures her he's dead serious. A jealous Kelso goes after Fez, because he's been dancing with Jackie all night long; Jackie stops him but only after he's picked up Fez and held him upside down until he's about to pass out. Back in the Forman driveway, Eric kisses Donna and tells her he's in love with her. She grabs him, spins him around, and when he says he wants to kiss her again, tells him to shut up and dance.
