When Hyde's mom takes off with a trucker and leaves Hyde home alone without even money for food, Eric tells his parents that he's worried about his friend. Red and Kitty go to Hyde's to check out the situation, and it's clear to Kitty that Hyde needs their help. It's a hard sell, but Kitty convinces Red to let Hyde move in with them.
Kelso convinces Jackie to go skinny-dipping with the rest of the gang, but their clothes get stolen, and they all drive to Hyde's to borrow something to wear. Hyde's house is in shambles; his mom has taken off with a trucker and has left him to fend for himself. Midge has been having her "Women Warrior" meetings at the house. Bob hates everything about the group until one of the women, Sharon, starts coming on to him. Hyde's been having dinner at Eric's quite often, but Red tells Eric it has to stop; he can't afford another mouth to feed when he's unemployed. Jackie gets sick as a result of the skinny dipping adventure, and Michael's horrified when he goes to see her and finds her without make-up and with her hair a mess. Eric's really concerned about Hyde's situation. Edna's still gone, and Hyde had to pawn the TV for food money. Eric convinces Kitty and Red to go over to Hyde's and check things out. It's clear to Kitty that Hyde has to go home with them; it's a hard sell, but she convinces Red to let Hyde move in.
